Disney Unveils New Lightning Lane Premier Pass: A Game-Changer for Disneyland and Disney World Visitors

Disney Parks has just rolled out a brand-new offering that is sure to excite visitors looking to maximize their time and experience the parks in a whole new way. The Lightning Lane Premier Pass is now available at both Disneyland Resort in California and Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, offering a convenient way to access Disney’s most popular attractions without the wait. But what exactly is the Lightning Lane Premier Pass, and how does it work? Let’s break it down.

What Is the Lightning Lane Premier Pass?

The Lightning Lane Premier Pass is Disney’s latest addition to its lineup of premium services designed to enhance guests’ experiences in the parks. Building upon the success of the existing Lightning Lane system, which allows visitors to bypass regular standby lines for select attractions, the Premier Pass takes it to the next level by allowing you to ride the attractions you want, when you want to, at both Disneyland and Disney World—no need to book individual time slots!

Here are some of the key features of the Lightning Lane Premier Pass:

  • Get one-time entry to each available Lightning Lane experience in a park for one day—including the most in-demand attractions.
  • Park-Hopping Flexibility: The pass works across both parks at Disneyland, meaning you can seamlessly park-hop without worrying about ride restrictions or Lightning Lane limitations.
  • Top-Tier Attractions Included: From Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind to Radiator Springs Racers and Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, the Premier Pass gives access to the most popular (and often most crowded) rides across both resorts.
  • Enjoy photo perks, including digital downloads of select attraction photos and videos. Plus, unlock Disney PhotoPass Lenses.

How Does It Work At Disney World?

The Lightning Lane Premier Pass is simple to use and eliminates much of the stress of planning your day around specific ride reservations. Here’s how it works:

  1. We will begin piloting the rollout of Lightning Lane Premier Pass to Guests staying at Disney Deluxe Resort hotels, Disney Deluxe Villa Resorts and other select hotels, for park visits during their stay.
  2. Open the My Disney Experience app, find “Lightning Lane Premier Pass” on the home screen and then tap “Purchase”. Follow the prompts to complete your purchase—and receive a confirmation.
  3. Prices for Lightning Lane Premier Passes vary based on date and theme park; purchasing is subject to very limited availability.
  4. Scan and Ride: Once you have the pass, simply head to the Lightning Lane entrance at any eligible attraction, scan your pass, and skip the standby line! You can use the Premier Pass once at each attraction throughout the day.
  5. Park Hopping: If you’re visiting multiple parks in one day, the Lightning Lane Premier Pass will need to be purchased for each park.

Who Should Consider the Lightning Lane Premier Pass?

While the Lightning Lane Premier Pass offers incredible perks, it might not be for everyone. It’s perfect for:

  • Non-Frequent Disney Visitors: If you’re coming on a once in a lifetime vacation or someone who does not visit Disney parks often, this pass can help you squeeze more magic into each visit, especially on crowded days.
  • Time-Conscious Travelers: If you’re on a short trip and want to experience as many top-tier attractions as possible without spending hours in line, the Premier Pass offers a hassle-free way to make the most of your time.
  • Thrill Seekers: Love the rides? This pass is for you. The Premier Pass allows you to hit all the major attractions without worrying about booking ride times or juggling schedules.

Pricing and Availability

Prices for Lightning Lane Premier Passes vary by date and theme park. At launch, prices will range from $129 to $449 (per pass, plus tax), with the highest prices falling on a limited number of days over peak travel periods. Eligible Guests will be able to view prices in the My Disney Experience app.

  • Magic Kingdom: $329-$449 plus tax
  • Disney’s Animal Kingdom: $129-$199 plus tax
  • EPCOT: $169-$249 plus tax
  • Disney’s Hollywood Studios: $269-$349 plus tax
  • *For the rest of 2024, the Disneyland Premier Pass will cost $400 per person, per day for adults and children. Next year, prices will run from $300 to $400 per person.

Is It Worth It?

The Lightning Lane Premier Pass represents a premium experience at Disney parks, and whether it’s worth the investment depends on your individual preferences. If you value maximizing your time in the park and are eager to skip the long waits for popular rides, the Premier Pass can significantly enhance your visit. For those on shorter trips or with only one day to explore, this pass could be the key to experiencing everything you want without sacrificing hours to long lines.

However, for more casual visitors or those on a budget, the regular Lightning Lane system (where you pay per ride or schedule select attractions) might be a better option.

Final Thoughts

With the introduction of the Lightning Lane Premier Pass, Disney continues to innovate and offer guests more personalized, convenient ways to experience the magic. Whether you’re a die-hard fan looking to ride everything without limits or someone who wants to make the most of a busy trip, the Premier Pass provides a flexible, streamlined way to enjoy the parks.

If you’re planning a visit to Disneyland or Walt Disney World soon, the Lightning Lane Premier Pass could be your ticket to an unforgettable (and line-free) adventure!
